Lexi Luna Gives Some Advice for Thriving at AVN
The Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE), run by Adult Video News (AVN), is the largest trade show for the adult entertainment industry. Over 500 brands will be represented at this year’s show! Thousands of fans will descend upon Las Vegas to meet their favorite stars, connect with their favorite creators, and shop the various vendors. So, you might be wondering how to make the most of your time at the Expo.
Here’s some advice from a convention pro:
You’re Here to Network, So Network
As a content creator, meeting and vetting people with whom you might want to work is important but can be complicated to do online. The show gives you the perfect opportunity to find new people with whom you’ll make a hot content. You can never over-network, so be deliberate when you walk around the show floor.
Go Mainstream
If you are looking to do mainstream work, AEE is a great time to meet with agencies and interview them to see if you’re a good fit for each other. It’s also the perfect time to put your smiling face in front of studio heads and directors with whom you might want to work in the coming year.
Find Brand Collabs
Vendors at the show will be looking for models to do collabs and might offer everything from free product to paid sponsorships. Don’t feel pressured to make any decisions at the event, but follow up in the weeks after the show.
Be Ready for Fans
Fan interaction at the show is varied. From the moment you get to the venue, your actions are being watched so carrying yourself with professionalism sets such a bad-ass vibe. Excited fans might not realize they are encroaching on your comfort zone so feel free to express your limits to fans if you are uncomfortable. Merchandise is not necessary, but it goes a long way in reminding fans to look for you. Simple stickers, 8x10 photos, or even business cards can help you gain new followers and convert more fans to your preferred platform. Most models sell their 8x10s for $20 so the fans already expect this.
Self Care Is Necessary
Let’s talk self care! Just like the casinos of Vegas, the show floor will include lots of walking and those hard floors can wreak havoc your feet. Bring some comfy shoes for walking and sexy shoes to change in to at the booth. For those hours you’ll spend meeting fans and networking, bring some healthy (portable) snacks and don’t forget to stay hydrated in the desert landscape! If you think you’ve had enough water, have one more just to be safe.
Speaking of hydration, you can purchase a small personal humidifier to help with the dry climate. Your favorite online retailer will have lots of options starting at $9. Alcohol can really dry you out, so if you are drinking, make sure you add a cup of water between drinks to stay on track for hydration. Are you sick of hearing about how important water is during this show yet?!
Taking care of your mental health during the show is vital, so Pineapple Support will be at the AVN Model Lounge if you would like to connect with therapists.
Take Tons of Photos
Finally, take lots of photos and remember to cross tag performers in your posts so you snag new eyes on your socials! Triple check that you have the correct tag because of all the fake accounts out there. Have fun and be safe!
