Why the Democratic Party Needs Sluts

As the Democratic Party takes a long, hard look in the mirror to figure out how a 34 times convicted felon, accused rapist and potential Hitler won the 2024 election, those who make their money off of nudes are wondering: what’s next for the adult industry?

While Donald Trump has claimed to not know about Project 2025, those who make their money off of being extra spicy know it all too well. Included in this Christian Nationalist manifesto are some pretty damning opinions on pornography and those who create it. 

We’re not talking about the usual Conservative goals of preventing kids from accessing porn or heavy prison sentences for human traffickers, no, the suspected guide book for Trump 2.0 seems adamant on a complete ban of pornography in the United States and the imprisoning of those who make it. Ideas which have the potential to sink a multi-billion dollar industry and put the millions of people who make money from being naked out of business or worse, behind bars. 

Yet collectively, we have serious power. The power to spank the most powerful man in America. The power to impact millions of young men who may claim to hate us, but still spend billions subscribing to our channels. The power to influence with a kink and a smile.

The new Republican Party, which is filled to the brim with Red-Pilled young men who view those with a high body count with as much disdain as murders and child abusers, now has the power to push some of the most restrictive laws on adult content. It seems like the plan is to Make America Prudish Again. 

Since 2019 we’ve seen major changes in internet regulations. We witnessed the the downfall of BackPages, sparked by FOSTA/SESTA. 16 states have have enacted laws requiring ID registration for adult content, causing major adult sites like Pornhub to remove access. New bills like KOSA seem aimed at making companies pay a high price for supporting adult content of any kind.

And while Republicans claims to be the party that wants to protect our freedom of speech, it’s become ever clear that protecting the Constitution doesn’t apply if there’s a dick in your mouth.

Fuck the Vote

As state after state went to Donald Trump on election night, many in the adult industry felt an uncertain uneasiness. We rallied around Stormy Daniels, an industry icon who became a thorn in Trump’s armor. We were all shocked and pretty disappointed when SlutWalk founder Amber Rose took the stage at the RNC. Many in the industry became Sluts for Harris and rallied around the Democratic nominee, trying to ignore her Prosecutor past in hopes of having someone who promoted “Not Going Back” as her signature campaign message. 

But that love many of us had for the Democratic Party wasn’t returned back. There were no promises to protect our freedoms of expression, no talking points about the adult industry and how censorship was destroying it, no words of affirmation that the party would represent the needs of the adults in the boardroom. 

Yet collectively, we have serious power. The power to spank the most powerful man in America. The power to impact millions of young men who may claim to hate us, but still spend billions subscribing to our channels. The power to influence with a kink and a smile.

While Progressives move further and further away left from the Liberals and Moderates who make up the bulk of the Democratic Party, a new coalition of ‘Pleasurists’ have the potential to be a motivating force in how we vote and what freedoms we highlight and fight for.

On the table are bank regulations for adult workers and studios, censorship and account deletions on social media platforms, regulations around porn access, protections against AI, and most importantly, the legalization of sex work beyond film. All of which are political flash points which impact the income, success and entertainment of millions of American voters. If the Democratic Party wants to move beyond identify politics and culture wars, maybe it’s time they courted those with the power to bring people together around pleasure, rather than gender or race.

We’re know adult stars are capable of getting attention. The real question will be can we also get votes?
