Dredd’s First Day In Porn
Usually, it’s hard for male talent to break into the industry. Even just getting a response from agents or studios can be very difficult for men when they’re first starting out. Not for Dredd, though. In fact, this charming middle aged star had people practically breaking his door down to get him into porn. Here’s the story of how he finally gave them what they wanted.
Dredd had always had a fascination with porn since childhood when he first found his dad’s dirty magazines under the bed in a shoebox. As he entered adulthood and started working a regular 9 to 5 in South Florida, he could feel his desire to perform growing inside. “I had something in me” he says, “I was always kind of like, you know, ‘If the right situation ever presented itself for porn I would do it.’” Still, with no real opportunities, it remained a hypothetical dream until one fateful day when Dredd heard something exciting on the radio. On March 13th 2008, the then data analyst was sitting at work listening to The Howard Stern Show when there was a special announcement: acclaimed adult star Shane Diesel (AKA “Blackzilla”) was giving up his performance career to direct, leaving a gaping hole in porn that desperately needed filling. Now, a producer was asking Howard Stern to help him find and crown “The Next Blackzilla.” The universe was calling to Dredd, and he just had to pick up the phone. He remembers thinking
“This is it. This is the shot. This is what I’ve been waiting on. This has got to be it!”
“I didn’t know anything about any of it” he laughs now, recalling how he snuck off to his work bathroom to take a photo of his dick for a stranger from the radio. Before he knew it, they were calling him the next day. “You’re the guy!” He remembers the voice on the other end saying “We’ve been looking at dicks all day and you’re the one.” Well, this was all a bit overwhelming for young Dredd. Sure, the idea of porn was exciting, but now, with producers begging him to fly out to LA and shoot ASAP, he was getting cold feet. Especially nerve wracking was the fact that they wanted to take him onto The Howard Stern Show (one of the most popular radio shows of the day) and anoint him as “the next Blackzilla” publicly. Dredd, who’d always imagined himself wearing a ski mask in porn to remain anonymous, wasn’t sure he wanted to jump head first into public pornstardom. “I still wanted to stay anonymous, you know? I wasn’t ready for that leap.” So, the man now known as the “biggest penis in porn,” turned down the opportunity of a lifetime.
Those dick pics Dredd took in his office restroom clearly impressed the producers, though. He kept getting calls for months begging him to try out porn. Finally, Dredd relented. “He called me up and he said ‘Look, forget about the whole show thing, let’s just fly you out and see how you do.’ and I said ‘Okay.’” So the Miami office worker got on a plane to the entertainment capital of the world to dip his toe into Adult work. He was expecting a girl, a camera guy, and a motel room. Instead, he was greeted with a massive set with a whole crew behind the scenes
“I didn’t know I was walking into the fire.”
That initial day on set was far from a first love experience. In fact, it convinced Dredd he wasn’t cut out for porn. “It was a struggle, man” he recalls, “I got on that set and there were multiple people and the lights were bright.” He had a hard time, but still, he managed to get through the weekend of shoots. Through each of the three scenes Dredd was struggling, to the point where he decided “Maybe this isn’t for me.” He took his money and flew back to Miami with his tail between his legs, fully intending on staying out of porn for good. “I just wasn’t ready, you know?”
Dredd stayed out of Adult for half a decade after that disastrous weekend, but that didn’t mean he had an average man’s sex life. No, those five years were packed with swingers clubs, parties, and cuckolding. While porn had proven itself (temporarily) too difficult, the strikingly handsome Miami resident was building up a reputation as one of the most desirable, respectful, and well-endowed single men in the swinger community. “People were starting to request me more, it was a word of mouth kind of thing,” which, he says, was gratifying and fun, but not exactly lucrative. While couples might fly him out or treat him to a hotel room and dinner, it was nothing he could depend on as a career. “I felt like I climbed as high as I could on the mountain, and I had as much fun as I did, but I was like ‘something’s missing here’” he chuckles “‘that monetary gain is missing.’”
So, after years of couples and girlfriends floating the idea, Dredd decided to finally give porn a second shot. He let a girl he was talking to make him a Twitter page, and he’s been earning his place at the top of the Industry ever since. Still, he’s glad he took the route he did. The years he spent away helped build up his confidence, a necessary foundation for his success. He smiles contemplatively and nods as he concludes his story “Thank God things happened the way things did.” You can check out Dredd’s work and support him here.
